ERES body architecture. Trendsetting and daring, the brand has been a force in the swimwear world for 40 years thanks to its iconic style and know-how. The ERES lingerie collections, synonymous with graphic simple designs, reveal another facet of its creativity - always an elegant balancing act between style and technique.
1968: Under the cobblestones, the beach.
The famous revolutionary slogan was very apropos. That year, Irène Leroux decided that women needed – and, most of all, wanted – swimsuits all year long, not just in the summer. Following in the steps of the haute couture cruise collections, the designer chose to offer sunshine in the winter and began to modernize the world of swimwear, starting with her family boutique at Place de la Madeleine.
Purity was one of the hallmarks of the young brand. ERES swimsuits sculpted women’s bodies and beautified them with ingenious cuts without using padding or boning, as contemporary fashion then dictated. For her collections, the designer created exclusive, sculpted, comfortable fabrics. The concept of a swimsuit with impeccable quality that fits like a second skin was born. This was more than a new style; it was a brand new philosophy: to illustrate the “art of the body.” The ERES name is synonymous with luxury swimwear. Its contemporary design, use of increasingly high-tech, innovative fabrics, and reputation for quality led the brand to expand its design territory.
1998: ERES launches its lingerie collection beginning to illustrate the “art of the body.” Once again, ERES innovated, proposing collections with resilient, refined fabrics as light as air and designing shrewdly cut lingerie that satisfies every woman’s curves and demand for comfort. The brand dared to use “nude” hues (like the colors of foundation makeup) and muted shades that had never been seen before in this context. Pastel and powdery tones enhanced engineered jerseys, tulles and sophisticated laces.
As for its swimwear collections, ERES does not follow ephemeral trends, preferring to set its own modern, identifiable style; its colors, motifs and cuts were so particular, they formed the brand’s signature as hallmarks recognizable by connoisseurs. It rapidly became a landmark style.
Know-how, sophistication and the masterful use of cuts and fabrics are still the values cherished by ERES, now upheld by Valérie Delafosse, the brand’s artistic director since 2007. ERES’ precepts – to enhance the body without artifice, to show regard for its architecture, to adapt to all figures and individual personalities and to combine luxury, creativity and a certain timelessness – are applied to all its collections, designed in the spirit of a complete wardrobe with homewear, beachwear and accessories lines.
Today, ERES can be found in five hundred points of sale worldwide and has opened twelve boutiques in Paris, Cannes, Saint-Tropez, Madrid, Milan, New York, Los Angeles and Palm Beach.

KNOW-HOW

For Eres, the Art of the Body is synonymous with the mastery of techniques and advanced skills in working with cuts and fabrics.
Disciplined, designed to respect the body’s architecture and enhance its lines and curves, the cut of swimwear and lingerie styles conceal, beneath their seeming simplicity, a horde of technical details, such as chain stitching and flat assembly of pieces. Thanks to their clean lines and pure shapes, these styles are for all women and adapt perfectly to all body types. Sophisticated, feminine forms have become Eres’s hallmarks. Tanks, bandeau tops, boyshorts, etc. for swimsuits; triangles, corset briefs, demi bras, etc. for lingerie, are just a few components of Eres’s immediately identifiable style.
The feel, the shape and the quality of fabric are all essential for Eres. Since its inception, the brand has used high-tech, innovative materials that are soft and comfortable to wear. In 1968, the house was already making swimsuits with spandex, only recently invented. Next came Peau Douce, a knit capable of camouflaging imperfections, and Parachute Light, a fabric that truly feels like a second skin. In 1998, lingerie design continued on its quest for high-performance fabrics, so soft and light that the body forgets it’s wearing anything, like an invisible sheath, like a well-kept secret: Taffetas Plume, supple and light as air, Jersey Lumière, fine and springy, the most delicate Leavers lace from Calais, tulle, Puy lace. All ensure support and comfort and require the application of artisanal French sewing techniques, guaranteeing flawless quality.
A subtle color palette also revisits the world of Eres each season. Light, elegant and delicate pastels alternate with sharp, bright colors. Nude hues, like foundation makeup colors, follow the chic spirit defined by the timeless black and white. Faux blacks, emblematic of the Eres style, are constantly reworked, integrated into a range of always-exclusive colors, sometimes in monochrome shades. These are punctuated by a host of graphic details: openwork lace, bows, buttons, Vous-et-Moi stitching, eyelets, draping… and of course, the triangle, a key graphic element for Eres.
The resulting beachwear, lingerie and homewear lines truly captivate the spirit of a complete wardrobe. Enriched each year, they form the Eres world, infused with a sober, pure and natural style, colored with glamour and femininity.
