Chloé meanwhile has made a range of beachwear essentials spanning ready-to-wear, bags, shoes, eyewear, and hats inspired by the Maison’s design signatures including broderie anglaise and trademark ‘C’ detailing. The Chloé x ERES swimwear is made from Peau Douce – an innovative second skin material created by ERES that combines elasticity, resistance, shape and comfort – and comes in earthy colours inspired by the Mediterranean.
Chloé’s singular femininity is expressed through both the cut and fabrications of the Chloé x ERES swimwear. The shoulder flounces of the ‘Philippine’ swimsuit and ‘Polynesia Palau’ bikini are reminiscent of Chloé’s distinctive winged silhouette, while the botanical motifs in broderie anglaise, that adorn these designs as well as the ‘Pacific’ swimsuit and ‘Papuasia Peru’ bikini, introduce another distinctive code of the Maison. The ‘C’ emblem that features on iconic Chloé bags such as the Mate hobo has been reinterpreted by ERES as hardware – creating sun ray ruching on the waist of the ‘Panama’ swimsuit and uniting the two cups of the ‘Papeete Paraguay’ bikini top.
Chloé’s steadfast commitment to continuously improving its environmental and social impact is reflected throughout the Chloé x ERES collection. The Peau Douce material used for the swimwear is derived from castor oil-based polyamide and the ‘Patricia’ shirt and ‘Paloma’ skirt are cut from embroidered linen. Linen cultivation emits fewer greenhouse gases and requires less water, making it a lower-impact material by nature compared to other conventional fabrics. The ‘Palma’ basket bag with its leather handles, removable pouch, ‘C’ hardware and interior Chloe ERES co-branding was made in collaboration with Mifuko, a Kenyan-based social enterprise that has been partnering with Chloé for several consecutive seasons.
